General
Summary:
Individual contributor role supporting Outside Plant planning activities. Assists in creating and administering capital budget plans supporting the outside plant function. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data. Responsible for providing the planning and analysis in support of construction of outside plant network structures and facilities including Route Plan and Serving Area designs that will ensure the transitioning of the network to future broadband services.
Assists Marketing and Sales by providing feasibility pricing of network additions required to support sales requests. Coordinate with Access (DLC and Transport), Transport and Switching as necessary to integrate facility interfaces and with Operations to coordinate resolution of network deficiencies as they are identified by peer teams or customer complaints.
Minimum Requirements:
Basic understanding of telecommunications industry; basic knowledge of outside plant disciplines and vendor equipment. Basic knowledge of accepted engineering practices. Knowledge of OSP design principles including carrier engineering, cable loop layout, digital loop carrier design, inter-office connectivity, and fiber electronics design. Computer software knowledge to include Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, CAD and Custom Planning Tools and Databases. Good analytical skills; the ability to prioritize projects; good oral and written communication skills; and good interpersonal skills.
Education and
Experience: College degree and 2-4 years related experience or 6
years equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience or a combination of education and related Engineering/Technical experience required.
Qualifications: Computer Systems knowledge to include, GComms, MIROR, ASAP and other systems as necessary to proficiently fulfill the requirements of the position.
